Sofia Shim traces memories by creating a collage of old books, black letters, strings, various papers, and debris from twigs. The work of emphasizing the old surfaces, summing up the time, accumulated silently crossing the boundary between the plane and the three-dimensional works recalls the latent memory. The screen is scrambled, faded, and rusty, and it is as if the fragments of memory are stored in a jumble without sequencing or causality in the brain. In particular, the early sketching process of making and articulating 'book', an object very familiar to people, is a prognostic step and a process of distress for the improvised screen composition to be developed in the future.
